U.S. researchers have reported that pre-term babies delivered by cesarean section are more likely to develop asthma than are full-term infants.

The study, published in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, said cesarean delivery changes the bacterial colonization of the gut, which normally occurs shortly after birth, and that might be what makes infants intolerant to allergenic substances.
